After 14 levels of play on day 2 the field was narrowed to just 34 remaining hopefuls. The chip leader coming into the final day of this event is Australia’s Warwick Mirzirkinian with 4,885,000. He surged up the leaderboard at the end of the day to just surpass Richard Chun, who lead for much of the last few levels and ended up with 4,770,000.
Also still in contention is 2015 Card Player Poker Tour Hollywood Park main event champion Adam Volen (1,435,000), who has a chance to become the first player to ever win two CPPT main event titles.
Volen spent much of the day short stacked, but was able to climb to the middle ofthe pack by making quad aces holdeing the AA in a three-way all-in pot late in the day.
Plenty of notables were eliminated after the money bubble burst, including Owen Crowe (59th – $1,345), Ryan Lenaghan (97th – $650) and Bart Hanson (118th – $510).
The remaining 34 players are now all guaranteed at least $2,815 for their efforts in this event. They will return to play down to a champion at 1:00 p.m. local time on Sunday, July 15.
